Great novella. Only wish the story was longer but enjoy Liz's stories. Wanted to know what the struggles were after the fire.
You can't go wrong with a story by Liz Adair.
Finding something to live for after Wesley died was hard for Susannah. Having something depending on her saved her and meeting a helpful stranger stirred feelings she had long forgotten.
I enjoyed reading this short romance and didn't want it to end. The reader will love the characters and how this love story developed. I want to read more by this author especially her series set in Utah.
I would have given Hidden Spring five stars, but it's too short! 😜

I was given a free copy of this story in exchange for my honest review. It's all interaction between Susanna and Douglas as they meet and fall in love. No action, no charter development, just a short, lite, sweet romance. If that's what you're looking for, this is a good choice.
HIDDEN SPRING is a precious little jewel, a short novella with realistic settings and characters and a tender romance that sings of sweet love.
Susannah and Douglas seem meant to be. Mama and Papa Brown, a short list of secondary human actors, and a rich cadre of farm animals with unique personalities all round out the supporting cast. Hidden Spring is a lovely setting for their sweet, old-time western story.
Liz Adair may have come late to publishing, but she's a natural story-teller. If you don't know her work, this short novella is a good introduction. If you've read Liz before, this story is a sweet welcome back.
Oh how tender. It's not hard to imagine Susannah's pain at losing her husband after only six months of marriage. I found it amazing that his half brother Douglas fell in love with her right from the beginning, he helped her fix up her home and buildings for the animals and only asked for suppers.
Susannah's feelings were near as quick even though she tried to fight them at first. But the more they talked and spent time together the more she was falling in love with him, otherwise her heart wouldn't have broken when Ivy told her Douglas was getting married. She didn't know it as her he wanted to marry until the fire destroyed her home.
It's probably for the best because it would have been hard for them to live in the house she and his brother lived in together. Now they can build a home for the two of them and build new memories. Beautiful story Liz, I really enjoyed it, thank you for writing it and sharing it with me.
